Saute Aure waterfall, the family walk from La Joue du Loup
Minutes from the chalet, a trail heads west of La Joue du Loup and climbs towards one of the Dévoluy’s little surprises: the Saute Aure waterfall. It is the first outing we recommend to families.

| Distance | 3.1 km (ascent — return by the same trail) |
| Time up | 1h33 at a children’s pace |

| Altitude | from 1,437 m to 1,818 m |
| Best for | Families, walking children |
A gentle climb, with a goal that keeps children going
You start straight from the resort: no car needed, put your boots on and go. The trail rises steadily above La Joue du Loup, and the view soon opens onto the peaks of the Dévoluy.
The destination is what makes this walk special: a real waterfall, in a limestone massif where surface water is rare. Children last the distance because there is a real reward at the end.
Our tips
Bring water for everyone: shade is scarce on most of the route, as often in the Dévoluy. Hats and sunscreen from late spring onwards.
Allow for the descent by the same trail; half a day is plenty, picnic included. The trail is walkable from late spring to autumn.
