From La Joue to the heart of the Dévoluy, the quiet crossing
Not every outing aims for a summit. This one crosses the high plateau from one hamlet to another, rolling between 1,400 and 1,600 metres: an easy hour and a half of walking to take the measure of the Dévoluy.

The plateau as it is lived
The route links two inhabited corners of the plateau with gentle ups and downs; the landscape does the rest — meadows, hamlets and, all around, the ring of summits closing the horizon.
It is the ideal walk for a first day, a quiet morning or a late afternoon: short enough to stay light, varied enough to make you want to explore the rest of the massif.
Our tips
Water and a hat, even on an easy walk: shade remains scarce on the plateau. As it is a crossing, plan the return — on foot by the same path, or with a car drop-off at the far end.
